I am no Bugs Bunny, though I don’t mind chomping on the occasional carrot but did you ever ponder why he always went that way with “Wassup Doc?” Was Bugs ever sick? If yes was he so sick that he could not recover by using the ACME Cold cure capsule or the stronger ACME Shoo-your-flu tablet? I mean Bugs is my hero and no matter what any stammering hunter pig or Daffy duck tries to do he is indestructible, right? Why then the Doc reference? Is it possible that Bugs was scared of the severe strain of Bunny Flu? The grapevine is that he never got hold of the Doc on time. So our hero didn’t get a check up nor could he purchase the ACME Bamiflu medicine and there definitely was a mad rush to the swab test detection centre at the near by Looney toon town.

The thing was that the Toon 24x7 News kept track of the whole Bunny Flu pandemic and scared the hunting season out of Bugs. It didn’t go down well with all the citizens of the cartoon world that Bugs was a Bunny. Bad publicity aside the list of infected and dead toons was read out every hour every day. First there was Tweety who lived in Granny’s cage. She caught the Flu and died a fortnight later. Apparently she was also suffering from a case of “I tot I taw a Puddy Cat” syndrome. And then it kept getting worse, Sylvester, Daffy, the mad hunter pig (for the love of God can someone tell me what’s his name?), Wiley coyote, road runner, the tasmanian devil…………Snoopy,………….Donald duck,…………Daisy duck,……… poor old Uncle Scrooge,……the entire cast of Duck Tales,…………………. Mickey and Mini mouse................the list kept being read and being flashed.
(Apologies for killing off Disney characters as well, I forgot the names of the remaining Looney toons)

20 Toon schools were shut down and more than 600 new cases were reported. The Ministry for Looney health was doing something (a break from doing nothing).There was Pan-doom-monium all over. Apocalypse was just around the corner. And then came the revelation that bugs was lookin for, the Doc was there standing right in front of him. His life long search, his quest had finally reached its destination. So he went, “Ae….Wassup Doc? What’s with this....ah…ah……bunny Flu?”
“Nothing much Bugs, just another strain of Flu. Get checked if you have the symptoms but most likely it won’t turn up. And you don’t have to wear that ridiculous ACME flu-mask unless you have the Bunny Flu or someone around you has it. Whoever does have it should just stay at home.”
“Thanks Doc.”
“Don’t thank me just pay me 500 Carrots for common sense.”
“WASSUP DOC???????!!!!!”

And that my children, is the story of how Bugs got his famous line.
