To be honest i just heard about the Indian animated porn website savitabhabi.
While i have been tracking the verdict of the Delhi High court regarding section 377 partly because it is one of the most sensible decisions made to reform our archaic laws and partly because the news channels can't seem to get enough of it, the news about the first Indian animated porn website is a far cry away from the spotlight.
i think that this particular fact alone is enough to warrant an entire half hour broadcast on national television. I mean we are possibly looking at a Playboy empire in India headed by a group of people who don't want to show themselves.
My argument is this: When we as a people can't talk about sexuality out in the open how can we even think that homosexuals will have a slightly easier life ahead now in India.
The HT cafe article highlighted the censorship of Savita bhabi (3rd of July) and I assume apart from educating us about it it was also an exercise to titillate the readers by publishing the comic strip. And that is what sexuality is in the Indian media, a form of titillation and increasing TRP's and readership. Well being a full blooded guy just out of his teenage i am not particularly disagreeing with this action.
I remember taking part in a debate in my junior college, SIES Sion ( Those god old gurukripa days and getting stuck at the sion signal). The topic of discussion on that day was " Is sexuality a matter of individual choice" Now I was a bit soft in the head less alert and certainly less informed then about the words sexuality, homosexuality et al then I am today. I was massacred ( even that seems an understatement) on that debate. Most who took up the proposition or the opposition focused on one aspect-Homosexuality. The point that I missed out on then and what I am assuming most people are missing out on today is that sexuality is an aspect of every one's life, not just homosexuals.
May be this was just an exercise to express myself or may be an exercise to possibly improve the visibility of my blog. The keywords in the title and the rest of the article may just appear on the 100 th page of a google search list. You go figure!
